Dragnea told journalists on Monday, following a top-level party meeting, that he will not take part in the event, which this year will also mark the Centennial of the Great Union of 1918.
Prime Minister Viorica Dancila also said that she is unsure whether she will take part in the event, stating that she might visit other parts of the country following the traditional military parade in Bucharest.
The president and the ruling PSD-ALDE coalition have frequently clashed since the latter’s 2016 parliamentary election victory, with the latest conflict seeing Iohannis unwilling to accept new regional development and transport ministers proposed by the social-democrats.
