Romania has 43 electoral divisions, one for each of its 41 counties, one for capital city Bucharest and one for Romanians living abroad.
Each electoral division will be represented in Parliament by a number of lawmakers set depending on each county’s population. Under the law, a deputy represents 70,000 people, while a senator represents 160,000 people.
Electoral divisions are in turn divided into uninominal constituencies.
Voters have 18,104 polling stations available, of which 221 are abroad. The country has 315 uninominal constituencies for the Chamber of Deputies and 137 constituencies for Senate.
Over 50,000 security forces have been deployed to guard polling stations, the Central Election Office and county election offices, ballots and other materials used in the process.
