Romania’s inflation eased to 4.3% in June from 4.4% a month earlier, EU’s statistics office Eurostat said.
EU’s annual inflation was 1.9% in June, down from 2% in May. A year earlier, the rate was 0.6%.
Greece reported the highest annual inflation in the EU, of 5.2%, followed by Hungary (5%) and Romania.
The lowest 12-month averages up to June were registered in Ireland (-2.5%), Latvia (-1.6%) and Portugal (-0.3%), and the highest in Hungary (5.2%), Romania (4.6%) and Poland (3.5%).
Romanian consumer prices inched up 0.2% in June compared with the month earlier. EU’s monthly inflation was 0%.
Annual inflation in the 16 states that use the euro was 1.4% in June, down from 1.6% in May. A year earlier, eurozone’s rate was -0.1%.
