Diaconescu pointed out the Romanian authorities’ preoccupation for the safety and the life of the Romanian citizens in the Gaza Strip and presented technical measures taken to help Romanians in need, the Foreign Affairs Ministry said in a statement Friday.
"We are preoccupied especially by the situation of the Romanians in the Gaza Strip. We are ready to offer them the support they need to leave the area,” Diaconescu said, according to the statement.
The Foreign Affairs Minister and Israeli Ambassador to Bucharest agreed the authorities of the two countries should cooperate to rapidly solve the requests of the Romanian citizens who want to leave the Gaza Strip.
Diaconescu highlighted that the Romanian authorities support a fast political solution with regard to the situation in the Gaza Strip.
Israeli Ambaasador gave an updated presentation of the situation in the conflict area, the ministry said.
Up to now, two families (nine people) asked for assistance to leave the conflict area from the Romanian Embassy in Tel Aviv, the ministry said.
