FC Seville opened score in the 25th minute with Brazilian midfielder Renato scoring after Steaua’s goalie Zapata only managed to dodge the ball headed by Poulsen from a corner.
In the 63rd minute, Steaua striker Valentin Badea managed to score, but the goal was annulled as he had scored from an offside position.
Visitors scored again in the second half when the same Renato headed the ball into Steaua’s net.
Steaua fans boycotted the game and the match was played to a half-empty stadium. Also, fans started leaving ten minutes before the end of the game.
Wednesday’s match marked the Champions League debut both for Steaua’s new coach Marius Lacatus, and Seville coach Manolo Jimenez.
