Romania Extended Yellow Code Warning For Heatwave

The Romanian meteorological authorities (ANM) extended the yellow code warning for heat until Saturday for 14 counties and for the capital city Bucharest, expecting temperatures will continue to rise to 37-38 degrees Celsius.

ANM issued warnings for the counties of Braila, Buzau, Calarasi, Constanta, Dolj, Galati, Giurgiu, Ialomita, Ilfov, Olt, Teleorman, Tulcea, Vaslui and Vrancea, and for Bucharest.

The heatwave will affect most of the southern and eastern regions until Saturday afternoon, and the temperature-humidity comfort index will continue to exceed the critical level. 

ANM expects thunderstorms and possible hailstorms in some areas in northern and western Romania.

The yellow code warning for heat issued Wednesday is valid until Friday afternoon for the counties of Arad, Arad, Bihor, Braila, Calarasi, Caras-Severin, Dolj, Galati, Giurgiu, Ialomita, Ilfov, Mehedinti, Olt, Teleorman, Timis, Vaslui and the city of Bucharest, where temperatures are expected to rise up to 39 degrees Celsius, and to exceed this level in some areas.
