The sources said Boc made it very clear he would oust from the Cabinet any minister who speaks during press conferences about measures that are not included in the governing program, stressing such statements simply taint the government’s image unjustly.
Sources said Boc’s warning mainly targets Finance Minister Sebastian Vladescu and Labor Minster Mihai Seitan for their recent statements whereby all pensions would be taxed and children’s state allowances would be reduced.
Vladescu said in an interview for money.ro that pensions in Romania aren’t taxed at the time of contribution or upon collection and he would like a public debate on the fact that the pension system has little over three million contributors and six million beneficiaries. He later told MEDIAFAX the Finance Ministry doesn’t plan to tax pensions right now and it isn’t planning a public debate on the matter either. He also said all taxes remain unchanged this year except for the minimum tax for companies, which becomes a lump-sum tax.
