Ruling Coalition Leaders Meet To Discuss 2019 State Budget – Sources

The co-leaders of Romania’s ruling PSD-ALDE coalition, Liviu Dragnea and Calin Popescu Tariceanu, will meet on Monday to discuss the state budget draft for 2019, according to political sources.

“The chairman of the Senate, Calin Popescu Tariceanu, will meet during Monday with the chairman of the Lower Chamber, Liviu Dragnea, with the main subject being the state budget,” political sources told MEDIAFAX.

They added that among other subjects, the two will discuss whether to file another constitutional challenge against President Klaus Iohannis for refusing to appoint new transports and regional development ministers, as well as the coalition’s strategy for the new parliamentary session due to begin in February.

This would be the first coalition meeting in 2019, with both leaders recently returning from holidays.

Romanian Finance Minister Eugen Teodorovici will not take part in the meeting, as he is present in Brussels for work regarding Romania’s EU Council presidency.
