Romania’s Fmr Agric Min Mihail Dumitru To Run Presidential Committee For Agric Development

Romania’s former Agriculture Minister Mihail Dumitru on Friday was appointed head of the presidential committee of public policies for the development of agriculture in Romania, a press release reads Friday.

Dumitru said in a press conference Friday that he plans to leave for Brussels in 2011 and work for the European Commission. He added he told Prime Minister Emil Boc on Wednesday that he no longer wants to be agriculture minister.

Thursday evening, Boc officially announced that ministers Adriean Videanu (Economy), Sebastian Vladescu (Finance), Mihai Seitan (Labor), Mihail Dumitru (Agriculture), Gabriel Sandu (Communications) and Radu Berceanu (Transport) would be replaced with Ion Ariton, Gheorghe Ialomitianu, Ioan-Nelu Botis, Valeriu Tabara, Valerian Vreme and Anca Boagiu, respectively. Videanu, Berceanu, Seitan and Sandu resigned, while Dumitru and Vladescu were dismissed through presidential decrees.

The new ministers were appointed Friday morning through presidential decrees and sworn in before the president, with the heads of Parliament and the remaining members of the Cabinet in attendance.
