Authorities suspended the activity of two economic operators and five stores were closed for investigations.

Tax authorities started checkups following media reports that shops in the center have no registers and don’t give out receipts.

„We’re checking all the contracts concluded within the center,” Bucharest Financial Guard deputy chief Constantin Teodor told MEDIAFAX earlier Thursday. He said only 30% of the stores are currently occupied by economic operators.

China Town Romania, owned by Chinese investors, opened a shopping center Tuesday in Afumati, following a EUR27 million investment.

The grand opening was attended by Romanian Prime Minister Emil Boc, who invited Chinese business people to continue investing in Romania.

The center has 1,240 stores, 200 permanent warehouses and 200 temporary warehouses.
