The liberal meeting took place Wednesday evening, at 20:00 local time, the main topic being the appointment of potential liberal candidates in the upcoming local elections. The names of the candidates were put down in opinion polls that will be unfolded before February 15.

Liberal sources told MEDIAFAX that, fir Bucharest District 1, “things are as clear as possible," Andrei Chiliman being the liberal candidate. The poll on the matter will also contain Iulia Huiu (former liberal candidate in the EP elections), as potential candidate, as well as the names of potential candidates from other parties, including far-right Greater Romania Party MP Dumitru Dragomir.

In addition, early December 2007 polls unfolded by the liberals placed current Bucharest District 1 mayor Andrei Chiliman at 70% among potential liberal candidates.

A favorite for District 2 seems to be Dragos Dinca, while in District 3, the pole position might go to Mircea Ciopraga, the quoted sources mentioned.

As for City Hall, transport minister Ludovic Orban will be the liberal candidate.
