"Romania’s Energy Authority ANRE was based on an imported gas price of $370 per 1,000 cubic meters in the first semester, when it has decided to increase household gas prices by 8.5%. But the international oil price has increased and the leu weakened against the US dollar", said Wednesday in a press conference the deputy general manager of trading Gas with Distrigaz Sud Marc Hirt.

On February 1, ANRE hiked natural gas prices for household consumers by 8.5%.

Following the increase, household consumers will pay 989.55 lei (390$) for 1,000 cubic meters of natural gas provided by Distrigaz Sud and RON983.1 for 1,000 cubic meters of natural gas provided by E.ON Romania.

Distrigaz Sud and E.ON Romania are the two major gas distributors on the local market.
