The Service for Financial Products and Services within the Department Monitoring Services and Products proposed canceling Order no. 448/2009 of the National Consumer Protection Authority regarding several measures compelling economic operators unfolding money exchange activities to keep consumers informed, and issuing a new order to also include the problems brought up by consumers since the enforcement of the initial order.
Order 448/ 2009, enforced on July 15, compels money exchange offices to post outside the offices, on a special panel, the exchange rates for the main currencies, and to post traveler’s checks or vouchers, separately inside the offices.
Under the order, economic operators unfolding money exchange activities are compelled to post inside and outside the exchange offices accurate information on the exchange rates, both for sale and purchase operations.
