Romania Annual Inflation Seen Slowing To 4.6% In February

Romanian annual inflation is expected to narrow to 4.6% in February from 5.2% a month earlier, according to estimations of the country’s association of financial and banking analysts AAFBR.

Consumer prices are seen rising by an average of 0.3% on the month, after high tobacco excises have pushed the monthly inflation to an unexpected 1.7% in January.

Monthly forecasts range between 0.2% and 0.7%.

The AAFBR analysts estimate the annual inflation will slow down to 4.4% in March, while the year-end rate is forecast at 4%, below the 4.5% upper limit of the interval targeted by the central bank.

The February inflation data are due for release February 10.
