The debate was attended by Education Minister Daniel Funeriu.

Liberal Party president Crin Antonescu accused Funeriu of attempting to claim the idea of education reform as the objective of a single party. The liberal leader added that the minister is a politician and that people in charge of schools are not specialists. Antonescu compared the state of the education system to a „firing range.”

On the other hand, independent senator Liviu Campanu said his group supports the law on national education and minister Funeriu „on the path of dialogue, moderation and acting in the citizen’s interest.”

The motion was submitted on March 31 by members of the Liberal Party and Social Democratic Party, both in opposition.
