Meteorologists Issue Code Yellow Alert For Rain, Storms In W, S, Central Romania

Romanian meteorologists issued Monday another code yellow alert for heavy rainfall, storms, lightning, hail and violent gusts of wind, valid in 19 central, southern, western and southwestern counties, from Monday evening until Tuesday morning, 9 a.m..

According to the country’s national meteorology authority, or ANM, the areas of Banat, Oltenia, northern and western Muntenia, as well as the Southern and Western Romanian Carpathians will experience more severe rainfall, lightning, brief gusts of wind leading to storms and isolated hail.

The ANM press release also says that these regions will see rainfall of up to 25-30 liters per square meter, and even 50 liters per square meter in some areas.

The previous code yellow advisory for rainfall and storms, valid until Sunday evening, was issued for capital Bucharest, the Maramures, Crisana, Banat and Oltenia regions, and the western and northern parts of Transylvania.
