Meteorologists Issue Code Yellow Rain Alert For NE, C, SE Romania, Valid Until Sunday Evening

Romanian meteorologists issued a code yellow alert for rain, thunderstorm and hail in the northeastern, central and southeastern parts of the country, valid until Sunday at 9 p.m..

According to meteorologists, precipitation might exceed 25 liters per square meter and even 50 liters per square meter in certain areas.

Heavy rain is expected in the northeastern counties of Suceava, Botosani, Iasi and Vaslui, in the southeastern counties of Galati, Buzau and Vrancea, as well as in the central counties of Harghita and Covasna.

Romanian hydrologists also issued Sunday a code yellow flood advisory for the central, northeastern and southeastern sectors of rivers Mures, Olt, Suceava, Moldova, Bistrita, Trotus, Putna, Baseu, Jijia, Barlad, valid until Monday at 4 p.m..

Hydrologists said river flows will exceed alert levels, adding local flooding is likely to occur.
