Romanian Police Officers To Organize New Protests On Nov 22

Romania’s National Police Officer Union "Pro Lex" members will take to the streets again on November 22, displeased with the faulty management applied by the Ministry of Interior and the fact that law and order laws and the police officer statute were not passed.

"We demand a 30% increase applied to the base salary, respectively 400 lei (EUR1 = RON3.7148), and this is an increase close to the one proposed by the Ministry in 2007, namely 27%, but which was not granted entirely, only 3%, below the level of inflation," said Pro Lex president Vasile Lincu on October 26.

Thursday, “Pro Lex,” which represents over 16,000 members, will organize a new protest rally on November 22, between 11:00 and 12.30 local time, in Bucharest’s Constitutiei Square, union leader Vasile Lincu told MEDIAFAX.
