Microsoft Romania Has New General Manager

Silviu Hotaran decided to leave his general manager position with Microsoft Romania to start his own business.

He began his career with Microsoft as general manager of the Romanian subsidiary in 1996. In 2004, Hotaran was appointed general manager for Eastern Europe, responsible for the company’s business development in ten countries in the region. He resumed his position with Microsoft’s Romanian subsidiary in June 2007.

Tatomir, the head of the consultancy firm “Cabinetul Calin Tatomir”, was part of the management teams in former Romanian subsidiaries of the multinational companies Digital and Compaq, Microsoft said.

"Being part of Microsoft and working in an executive position is a unique experience and probably the most wanted job on the Romanian IT market. Although I have 12 years management experience with American corporations, I think I am facing a great challenge. I think Microsoft Romania already has a young team, partners, clients and visibility to reach another level of maturity, and I am fully committed to running the company in that direction,” the new general manager of Microsoft Romania said.

Tatomir was the head of the Services Division with Digital, and Channel Sales Manager and Consumer Business Manager with Compaq.

"When Microsoft opened the local subsidiary in Romania, it had five employees. Now it has 200 employees and added a new business line in 2007, by opening its technical support center in Bucharest. Our plans to continue investing here are based on the confidence we have in the local team, and in the leadership skills of Calin Tatomir, who will bring a significant contribution to the IT market and to Microsoft’s development,” said Microsoft executive manager for Central and Eastern Europe, Vahé Torossian.

Calin Tatomir is an engineer who graduated the Faculty of Electronics and Telecommunications in Bucharest in 1987.
