Microsoft Sues Romanian Co. Over Unauthorized Software Reproduction
U.S. software giant Microsoft has sued Romanian call center and outsourcing operator XL World Iasi for illegal usage of 640 software programs and requested damages of EUR180,226, local police said Tuesday.

XL World Iasi, branch of British outsourcer XL World, allegedly copied Microsoft software programs without authorization, police said.
The police are investigating XL World Iasi’s manager, Paraschiva B. for “unauthorized reproduction of computer programs.”
Three company employees are also investigated in the case, under accusations of forgery and perjury, the police mentioned.
XL World employs some 1,000 people in Romania. The British outsourcer has two other branches in Romania, in Bacau and Oradea cities.
