Blaga’s nomination was validated by 46 “pros”, four “cons” and two abstentions.

During the hearings, Blaga said he will use the funds attracted via the Regional Operating Program and the transborder programs “for the harmonious development of Romania’s regions”.

Blaga said the partnership between the public and the private spheres must be promoted, in order to eliminate discrepancies between the country’s regions.

“We are ashamed to say that certain communities are very poor, that they have no administrative capacity,” the future minister said.

Romania supplemented the number of administrative territorial units, while other European countries such as Denmark reduced them, he added.

The designated minister said there are too many programs under the Development Ministry aiming at extending the housing fund and improving rural and urban infrastructure.

“It’s not good to have too many programs on the same issue,” Blaga said, adding a lower number would allow a more efficient use of funds.

Regarding the program for the thermal rehabilitation of houses, Blaga plans to increase the participation of state budget funds up to 50%.
