The government accepted total budget spending of RON16.3 billion (about EUR4 billion, 2.8% of GDP) for the Ministry of Labor, according to the 2009 state budget draft obtained by MEDIAFAX.
The Education Ministry may spend RONN11.8 billion (EUR2.9 bilion, or 2.1% of GDP).
The Transport Ministry will spend this year an estimated RON10.6 billion (EUR2.6 million, or 1.8% of GDP).
Other expenses were approved for the Ministry of Interior – RON9.9 billion (EUR2.4 billion, or 1.7% of GDP), the Ministry of Agriculture – RON8.4 billion (EUR2.1 billion, or 1.5% of GDP) and the Ministry of Defense – RON7.6 billion (EUR1.9 billion, or 1.3% of GDP).
Lower expenses compared to the ministries mentioned above were approved for the Ministry of Health – RON4.2 billion (about EUR1 billion, or 0.7% of GDP), the Ministry of Development – RON3.7 billion (EUR935 million, or 0.6% of GDP), the Ministry of Environment – RON2.5 billion (EUR645 million, or 0.4% of GDP) and the Ministry of Justice – RON1.9 billion (EUR492 million, or 0.3% of GDP).
Total expenses stipulated in the 2009 state budget amount to RON107.7 billion (EUR26.9 billion).
