French authorities, which are working to establish the circumstances of the murder of the president’s son in Paris in July 2007, said they found a watch and a fingerprint belonging to the Romanian at the scene of the crime.
The court also ruled Cioroianu is to serve his sentence in Romania if found guilty.
Brahim Deby, 27, son of Chad president Idriss Deby, was killed on July 2, 2007 and his body was found in the parking lot at his home in Courbevoie, France. Although the president initially accused his political rivals of involvement in his son’s death, his lawyers later said the motive seems to have been theft. French media also alleged the murder may have been the result of score settling between drug dealers.
