Moldovan, who is also the vice-president of the party’s Bistrita-Nasaud county branch, said he will talk to Sandru about this proposition next week. He will also discuss the matter with social democrat leaders.
"I’ve seen a stand of the (party) president who said he doesn’t exclude the possibility of a discussion with Lavinia Sandru and PIN for a collaboration. I know Lavinia and, moreover, at the European Parliament elections in 2007 Lavinia gained in Bistrita the most votes in the country, nearly 8%," Moldovan told MEDIAFAX.
"I am really tempted to have a talk with Lavinia (…) and propose that she represent Bistrita on these lists (of candidates – e.n.)," Moldovan added.
Asked whether Sandru would have to join the Social Democratic party to run for a seat in the European Parliament on the social democrats’ list Moldovan said: "No question about it. To be part of the list, she has to become a member of PSD".
He added enrolling in the party doesn’t take long, but said there are several possibilities, such as an election or political alliance, considering Sandru is the head of another political party.
