About 200 Moldovans studying in Romania were stopped at the Sculeni border on their way to Chisinau to joint anticommunist protesters. At around noon, a Romanian customs officer at Sculeni told the students the Moldovan side had reopened the border.

Moldovan President Vladimir Voronin accused Romania Wednesday of deep involvement in the anticommunist riots and declared Romania’s ambassador to Chisinau persona non grata. He also said Moldova will reintroduce travel visas for Romanians.

Thousands of people continue to protest Wednesday in Chisianu after the communists came out victorious after a general election held Sunday.
Voronin threatened authorities will use force on demonstrators if they continue to protest.
