Moldovan President Says Romania Refuses To Sign The Border Treaty

“I personally wrote a letter addressed to all 27 presidents of the EU states, explaining the relation between Moldova and Romania and the fact that Romania does not wish to sign the Border Treaty. Even the U.S. could not resist any longer and issued a statement on the matter,” Voronin said during a TV show Friday.

“How can we sign the Convention on minor traffic, when we don’t have a border? (…) First, we have to set clear limits for our border, and then we can sign other treaties. (…) Thank God that at least we have the Prut River between us,” Voronin said.
