Ludovic Orban meets the leaders of the parliamentary parties to convince them that the solution of early elections is the most appropriate in the current political situation. Party leaders are, however, skeptical about this.
So far, only PNL and USR have announced their support for early elections. The elections scenario is rejected by PSD, UDMR, PMP and minorities.
Although they do not agree with the early elections, the social-democrats discussed the issue on Monday in the Executive Committee meeting. According to political sources, PSD members have demanded that, if early parliamentary elections are organized, they will take place at the same time with the local elections. Those who would have proposed this include Paul Stanescu and Olguţa Vasilescu.
After the Orban Government was toppled in a no-confidence vote, president Klaus Iohannis decided to nominate Ludovic Orban again for prime minister.
The appointed prime minister Orban is to come before the parliamentarians for the vote of confidence and on forming a new Cabinet. In accordance with the Chambers’ regulation, within 15 days from the presentation of the list, the Parliament must schedule the plenary in which the investment vote is given.
