The participants in the “March for Normality,” at the call of “The New Right,” protested for nearly one and a half hour against homosexuality and “homosexual propaganda,” as they like to call it, and waved banners saying: "Romania is not Sodom" or "With Vlad the Impaler Gone, Sodom is growing more."

Nearly 1,200 gendarmes and police officers will ensure public order and offer protection to gay parade attendees.

Bogdan Stanciu, president of Provita Association, said he filed a complaint in court against the gay pride parade, arguing the parade defies the Romanian public and moral order.

The annual GayFest pride parade was first organized in 2004. The event is organized by the non-profit organization ACCEPT – the country’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) rights organization.
