According to the ProDemocratia Association, 94% of Romanians polled in the survey said that, if asked to cast their vote in a referendum, they would vote for withdrawing the Romanian citizenship of Roma ethnics who commit criminal offences abroad.
About 91% of Romanians said they would agree with introducing the death penalty, 88% said criticism against the Orthodox religion should be considered criminal offence, while 89% of Romanians would agree with withdrawing the Romanian citizenship of people who demand the autonomy for the Szeckler county, a region in Transylvania populated mostly by ethnic Hungarians.
The survey was meant to indicate in what way voting in a referendum might be influenced by justice rhetoric and might trigger undemocratic social effects.
The poll was carried out between 24 March and 27 March, 2010 on 1,060 people.
