Romanian Lower Chamber Rejects Simple Motion Against Labor Minister

Romania’s Chamber of Deputies on Tuesday rejected 121 to 100 votes and six abstentions the simple motion initiated by 52 social democrat and conservative deputies against Labor Minister Mihai Seitan.

The motion was submitted with the Chamber of Deputies last week.

The simple motion against Seitan targeted the activity carried out by the minister, who is blamed for the high unemployment rate the country is facing, as well as for the way in which the unitary wage law is applied in the public sector.

Seitan is also criticized for the draft pension law forwarded to the Parliament for approval.

Most Romanian unions have been staging protests displeased with the unitary wage law and the measures included in the draft pension law.
