Romania’s RTR Center To Continue Invest, Employments Despite Intl Fincl Crisis
"We have long-term operations here (in Romania – e.n. ) and we are not directly connected to the industrial or commercial operations, which are being affected by the economic recession. We make products for the next two or three years, therefore we decided not to decrease the investments in research and development. It is very important to keep the pace of the operations which ensures the company, in the future, the adequate products for clients’ needs," director with Renault Technologie Roumanie RTR, Philippe Prevel told MEDIAFAX.
Prevel added the works at the auto-testing unit develop according to plans, are due in 2009, and are scheduled to become operational early 2010, in a EUR450 million investment.
The company employed 700 people in 2008 in the engineering sector, up 200 persons than scheduled. Renault Technologie Roumanie employed 600 engineers in 2007.
The company currently employs a total of 2,300 persons and aims to reach 3,000 employees over the next years.
Also, Prevel could not make any forecasts on how much the crisis is to last.
"It is very important to prepare the business for a long-lasting crisis. We must be ready for a long-lasting crisis. Once doing that, the future will be safer," he said.
