Asked whether Romanian authorities actually do something to promote the Danube Delta as tourist destination, Basescu said that, unfortunately, little has been done in this respect so far.
The head of state also stressed that the Tourism Ministry’s main objective in 2009 is to promote Romania’s tourist destinations.
During talks at the presidential palace, Basescu and Prince Albert also approached the economic crisis issue, commented on the outcome of the G20 Summit in London and spoke about economic relaunch strategies.
The president said he informed His Majesty on the anti-crisis measures the Romanian authorities had taken and also highlighted the importance of the foreign loan the Romanian government wants to contract.
Basescu said they also looked into the possibility of strengthening the cooperation between Romania and the Princedom of Monaco for the purpose of countering the effects of climate and protecting the environment.
Prince Albert came to Romania for a two-day official visit at the invitation of the Romanian head of state and his schedule includes a trip to the Danube Delta and meetings with high officials in Tulcea county, eastern Romania.
