People Throw Coins At Former Romanian Pres During Commemoration Of Revolution Heroes

Iliescu arrived Sunday morning at the Cemetery of the Heroes of Revolution and laid a wreath when people started to shout and some of them began to throw coins at the former president.

Some of the people there shouted “Iliescu to be tried for the spilled blood”.

Under the protection of guards, he returned to his car and left the cemetery.

One of the participants said the hostility manifestations were caused by Iliescu’s intention to hold a speech to the people there.

On Sunday wreaths were laid on the graves in the cemetery of the Revolution Heroes, during the commemoration of 19 years since the Romanian Revolution.
