Romanian Magistrates Council Elects New President
The new members of the Romanian High Council of Magistrates convened earlier Friday to elect a new president and vice-president.
Both President Traian Basescu and the justice minister have recently called on the High Council of Magistrates to postpone electing a new president and vice-president until January 20, after the Constitutional Court rules over the validation of the council’s members.
The Romanian Constitutional Court will rule on January 19 on a notification brought to the recently validated list of new High Council of Magistrates members.
