The company will ensure the gas supply continuity for all its clients, the household consumers, the medical and the social assistance institutions, the education units and the public institutions being a priority. The power plants that cannot use alternative fuel to provide thermal agent will also represent a priority for E.ON Gaz Romania, the company said Wednesday in a press release.

The cease of the imported Russian gas is currently compensated by the use of the locally produced gas and the stocks of natural gas that have been stored last year, E.ON Gaz Romania stated.

Romania’s Economy Ministry announced Wednesday in a press release that, following the cut of Russian gas supplies to Romania, an "emergency situation" was declared in the energy system.

All Russian gas exports to Romania were halted Wednesday morning, after deliveries were cut at Mediesu Aurit gas import station at around GMT0700. Gas supplies via the other gas import station, Isaccea, were cut Tuesday morning.
