“We believe the Romanian market has real potential to adopt the latest technology in the communications field,” Orange Romania’s Product manager Vanina Ungureanu said.
Apart from Romania, Orange said will sell the iPhone in Austria, Belgium, the Dominican Republic, Egypt, Jordan, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Switzerland and its African markets later this year.
Apple launched the iPhone in the U.S. in June last year. The handset combines the features of a mobile phone, web browser and audio and video players.
The launch price ranged between $500 and $600 per handset, according to memory capacity.
Orange Romania is the top operator on the local mobile telephony market, with 10.01 million customers reported end March.
