Napalm Death, founded in 1981 in Meriden, Great Britain, by Nic Bullen and Miles Ratledge, are considered the founders of grindcore, with their signature blend of post-punk, hardcore punk and metal musical structures.

The band recorded a demo in 1982, which was released by Crass Records two years later and launched their first album "Scum", in 1987. The album includes "You Suffer", which took the band into the Guinness Book of World Records as writers of the shortest song.

The band also released "From Enslavement to Obliteration" (1988), "Harmony Corruption" (1990), "Utopia Banished" (1992), "Fear, Emptiness, Despair" (1994), "Diatribes" (1996), "Inside the Torn Apart" (1997), "Words from the Exit Wound" (1998), "Enemy of the Music Business" (2000), "Order of the Leech" (2002), "Leaders Not Followers, Pt. 2" (2004), "The Code Is Red… Long Live the Code" (2005) and "Smear Campaign" (2006).
