According to a press release issued shortly after democrat liberal vice president Adriean Videanu announced his party demands the disbanding of the Udrea Committee, debates within the Parliament committee investigating the sums spent by the Ministry of Tourism on actions promoting tourism and Romania’s image are set to begin with a plenary debate Tuesday, at 11:00 local time. Later, starting with 12:00, the committee will hear, for 50 minutes, Cristina Traila, president of the National Authority for the Regulation and Monitoring of Public Procurement.

Starting with 13:00, the committee will hear Gheorghe Nastasia, secretary general within the Ministry of Tourism, Octavian Arsene, director of the Tourism Development Department within the Ministry and Ana-Maria Toma, director of the institution’s Communication Department.

At the same time, the committee plans to hear Tuesday the operator appointed to maintain the Ministry of Tourism website.

The Romanian Democratic Liberal Party officially asked for the disbanding of the parliamentary commission investigating tourism minister Elena Udrea, on grounds of a recording that surfaced in media Sunday evening, which, according to the democrat liberals, puts the morality of the committee and the intention of its members in question.

The Parliament investigation committee in Udrea’s case was created in July at the proposition of the liberals and social democrats.
