The country’s economic growth pace will gradually slow down from an average 6.1% in 2001-2007 to 5.9% in 2008-2013 and 5.5% in 2014-2020, according to the report.

The commission expects the Romanian gross domestic product to total 1.4 trillion lei (EUR1=RON3.6082) in 2020 compared with an estimated RON475 billion in 2008.

The commission’s latest report also indicates Romania’s consumer prices are seen rising by an average 2% in 2015-2020, four times lower compared with the 7.5% rise estimated for 2008.

The gross average salary is expected to more than double by 2020 to RON3.683 per month from the estimated RON1,507 in 2008. Romania’s gross average salary is seen rising over 7% per year in the same period, the commission said.
