„Cohesion policy is one of the most powerful European instruments. It is the concrete expression of solidarity between EU Member States and regions. Without it, Europe would split in two: between developed regions and those left behind,” said MEP Victor Negrescu.
The Romanian MEP stressed that the mid-term review process offers an opportunity to address current shortcomings, accelerate the implementation of EU funds, and demonstrate their real impact on citizens’ lives. He also made a direct appeal to the European Commission to clearly express its support for maintaining cohesion policy after 2027.
„We cannot allow a policy that is vital for European equity to be underfunded or marginalized. There are voices questioning the future of cohesion, and the Commission must clearly say ‘no’ to these changes. Cohesion is not a fad. It is the guarantee of a united, balanced, and prosperous Europe,” warned the Vice-President of the European Parliament.
