Petrea said the new treatment will offer a chance to reduce the immunodeficiency viruses present in the blood to an undetectable level.
Petrea said almost all HIV-infected individuals develop multidrug resistance, adding researchers in the field constantly try to create treatments to slow the course of the disease.
Research shows that three in five patients registered an undetectable HIV-level after they underwent treatment with the new medicine (Intelence).
According to official data, Romanian has about 10,041 patients infected with HIV.
