Giuliani told Oprescu he was very impressed by Bucharest.
When he arrived, he saw the city was clean. Giuliani said after the meeting with Oprescu it is a mayor’s obligation to maintain the city clean, and thus to make a good impression.
When asked what he thinks of the traffic in Bucharest, Giuliani said traffic is both good and bad; it is bad because it takes a lot of time to cross the entire city, but it would be the last thing to have a city without traffic.
He said traffic means people work, perform activities, walk around. He would have been more worried if he arrived in a city and saw no traffic, as that would mean there is no economy in that city.
Giuliani explained mayor Oprescu has to do many things to solve traffic problems in Bucharest, which exist also in Los Angeles and New York, such as there are problems in India and London.
New York’s former mayor told Bucharest’s mayor he should not grow impatient and disappointed by the fact that he can’t solve these problems overnight.
