Romania’s Healthcare Might Get 5% Of GDP In ’09-Min

The Romanian government might allocate funds matching 5% of the gross domestic product to the healthcare field in 2009, with the percentage to reach 7% of the GDP in 2012, Health Minister Eugen Nicolaescu said Friday.

“It seems that we can think about some 5% of the GDP for the healthcare as of 2009, and we might reach some 6% of the GDP in 2012. The 6% figure could mean budget funds and the fund of the National Health Insurance House, plus 1% from private health insurances, which might see such a growth in four years to eventually obtain some 7% of the GDP – both public and private funds – in 2012,” Nicolaescu said in a press conference.
