“Unless the state pays its debts by March 30, the employers’ associations in construction will be forced to sue in court,” said Neculai Viţelaru, deputy president of the National Council for Private SMEs, or CNIPMMR.

Vitelaru said the state failed to make the payments to construction companies and some of them already underwent insolvency because they lack funds to pay their debts.

CNIPMMR officials urged the government to pay the debts to suppliers by the end of the month, as promised.

The officials also demanded a government act to exempt companies from paying the tax on reinvested profit as of April 1, arguing the measure will help revitalizing tens of thousands of Romanian companies.
