Number Of Tourists Entering Romania In August Up 8.9% YY
Romanian tourists accounted for 81.9% of the total, while foreign tourists represented 18.1% in August, similar with the same period a year before.
The number of foreign tourists that entered Romania in July was 8.9% higher compared with August 2009, INS data shows.
Most of foreign visitors, representing 95%, come from European countries, while 56.4% come from EU member states. Hungary accounts for the highest number of tourists who entered Romania, with 32.2%, followed by Bulgaria with 15.9%, Poland – 10.2%, Germany- 9.7%, Italy – 7.4% and Austria – 3.8%.
The number of Romanian tourists traveling abroad in August was down 2% on the month.
According to the INS release, the number of tourists entering Romania in January-Aug period was down 3.7% compared with the same period a year ago.
