Gabriela Georgescu, spokesperson of the local emergency inspectorate, said the situation is under control, adding that, however, clothes inside the warehouse are still burning.
Georgescu also stressed the large surface of the warehouse, which spans over nearly 700 square meters, makes the operation a lot more difficult.
Both firefighters and the Giurgiu free zone management are investigating the cause of the fire, but a preliminary report indicates somebody might have deliberately set the warehouse on fire.
The Giurgiu Free Zone manager, Constantin Toma, said the goods and the warehouse are not insured.
