Romanian Defense Min Loses RON675M At Budget Revision

Romania’s first budget revision of 2009 includes significant spending cuts at ministries and public institutions, including the Ministry of Defense, whose budget was lowered by approximately 675 million lei (EUR1-RON4.1189).

Overall personnel expenses at ministries and public institution saw a RON667.1 million reduction, while goods and services and capital expenses were cut by RON544.6 million and RON1.058 billion, respectively.
 
The Defense Ministry’s personnel expenses were down RON196.4 million, while spending for goods and services and capital expenses were diminished by ROB161.2 million and RON319.6 million, respectively.
 
The Ministry of Administration and Interior lost RON190.3 million for personnel spending and RON90 million for goods and services, while capital spending was lowered by RON137.7 million.
 
In Education, expenses with personnel was reduced by RON59.7 million, goods and services acquisition – by ROB47.1 million, while capital expenses were down RON305.1 million.
