Romanian Annual Inflation Seen Rising To 8.2% In April

Romania’s CPI rose 0.6% on the month in March, while the annual rate came in at 8.01%, the highest level since August 2008.

Analysts estimate a monthly inflation between 0.3% and 0.7% in April, while the annual rate forecasts range between 8% and 8.4%.

The year-end inflation is expected at 5% -5.9%, above the central bank’s target band of 3% plus/minus one percentage point around the target.

The central bank Thursday revised upward its forecast on the annual inflation to 5.1% at the end of 2011, from 3.6% previously.

The statistics institute INS is due to release inflation data for April on Tuesday.
