Rural Devt Projs Exceeding EU’s EUR700M Limit To Be Financed From State Budget – PM

Romania’s eligible projects of village development that were not eligible for European funding because they exceeded the EUR700 million threshold set by the EU, will be financed from the state budget, in a national rural development program, Prime Minister Emil Boc said Thursday.

The budget funds will be assigned starting 2010 until the end of 2012.

"We will take over eligible projects for which the threshold was exceeded, but met the minimum score, and finance them locally," Boc said, citing a decision taken in the Government meeting Wednesday.

Any requests for attracting EU funds targeting the rural development program, must be submitted by end-July, he added.
