The list of public institutions and state-owned companies that bought vehicles in 2008 includes, among others, the Romanian General Police Department (2,923 police cars worth 426.4 million lei (EUR1-RON4.2910)), the Health Ministry (ambulances worth RON200 million), the national forest authority Romsilva (RON11.6 million), gas pipeline operator Transgaz (RON9 million), hydropower generator Hidroelectrica (RON8.1 million), the National Farming Agency for Payments and Intervention in Agriculture (RON8.1 million), the National Cadastre Agency (RON6.9 million), the operator of Romania’s crude oil and oil product pipelines, Conpet Ploiesti (RON6.7 million), the State Construction Inspectorate (over 45 off-road vehicles worth RON5.9 million), the Education Ministry (4.7 million), the passenger railway company CFR Calatori (RON4.1 million), the Economy and Finance Ministry (EUR3.6 million- it also conducted purchases on behalf of other institutions), the Defense Ministry (RON3.8 million) and the Globus Circus (RON2.6 million).
Public institutions and state-owned companies also bought communications equipment, laptops, television sets, LCD computer monitors, servers, air conditioning devices, furniture, photo and video cameras, laser printers and mobile phones worth a total sum equivalent with over EUR330 million.
